NEW YORK, May 25, 2012 — Affect, a public relations and social media firm specializing in B2B and B2C technology, healthcare and professional services, today announced it has earned top honors for its public relations and social media campaigns by several industry awards programs including thePRSA-NY Big Apple Awards, the Hermes Awards and Ragan’s PR Daily Awards. The distinctions are a result of Affect’s work with Sophos’ Naked Security Blog and the agency’s New York Intern Project.
The PRSA-NY Big Apple Awards, which distinguish the top PR and social media professionals and campaigns in the tri-state area, named Affect a winner in the Marketing, Business-to-Business category for its work on the Naked Security Blog and a winner in the New Media/Social Media Campaign category for its New York Intern Project campaign.
Affect also won two Hermes Awards, an international competition to honor the creativity of professionals in communications, marketing, PR and advertising. Affect was named platinum award winner in the Publicity Campaign category for its media relations program for Sophos’ Naked Security Blog, and was also given a gold award in the Social Media Game or Contest category for its work on the New York Intern Project.
Sophos’ Naked Security Blog is a premier news source for the IT industry. Affect’s campaign, which was designed to increase traffic to the blog, resulted in over 1,000 news articles in the first six months and growth of the blog’s page views to more than one million per month.
The 2011 New York Intern Project, a social media contest developed to identify a top summer intern to join the Affect team, received 96 entrants, over 14,000 votes and 62,000 website visits. The contest also resulted in the hiring of a talented intern who is now a full-time employee.
In addition to winning Big Apple and Hermes Awards, Affect has been named a finalist in the Best Executed Social Media Contest category for the New York Intern Project by the PR Daily Awards, created by Ragan Communications. The PR Daily Awards recognize corporations, PR and government agencies and non-profits for their social media efforts. Winners will be announced on September 11, 2012 in Washington, D.C.
